The Countdown and the Big Break Up

I love fall. Favorite season-hands down. But fall means something different this year.  On October 1st, preemie and especially micro preemie families all over the country started the dreaded week 1 of isolation. The official start of cold/flu/RSV season. We're heading into our cocoon for the winter. Sigh. We visited the lung doctor today and he re-iterated the plan. And he said Tucker was one of the best dressed babies he had ever seen. Score. Isolation means more intense hand washing. ... View the Post

Crying at the Stoplights

It happened. I said it wouldn't. I was ready for it. It would be no big deal. But there I was, laying out his clothes the night before. Making his bottles. Writing out his schedule. And color coding it. I felt it coming, tightening my heart a little, trying to sting my eyes. I ignored it and looked for my heels. And my pearls. And where did I put that pair of Spanx? I was going to need them. Then it was time. Monday morning. My first day back to work. First of all-you should know this about ... View the Post

Tina Turner, The Panthers and Tucker

6 month shots. Done-zo. Tucker did great, much better than the last two sets of immunizations. We kept him on the trusty oxygen for the night before and the night after he got the shots. He didn't have any brady/apnea events (thank you Lord) and he wasn't overly fussy. He definitely felt puny and ran a little fever but that is nothing compared to how his last few immunizations rocked him. Thank you for praying. This week we have two appointments. His gastroenterology appointment and...shhhh. ... View the Post

Eye Exams, Shots and the Amazing Drive By

First up. Look to your right. In the blue bar. Yep, that's it. Finally, after several near-cuss, tantrum inducing moments, a "Follow Me" form has been installed. If you would like to "subscribe" to our blog, just enter your email and you'll get email notifications when I post new ramblings on the blog. If you ever want to "unsubscribe" (and really, let's face it-one day you really could get sick of my constant cookie or sports references) there's an option to do that as well. There's no way ... Preemie Stuff

It Was All Fun and Games Until…

First of all, I am desperately trying to get a button installed that you can click to "Follow" our blog. That way, if you would like to be notified of new posts by email, you can just click the button and enter your email address and you will be "subscribed" to my blog and will get email notifications when I update. Should be up shortly...I tried myself and after an hour (trying not to cuss), called in back up (Darrin) who also couldn't get it to work so we called in the big guns (our friend who ... Month One: Training Camp

Welcome to our new blog! Let me just start with this confession: I am not technically savvy. And I have limited patience.  "Limited" as in on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the patience of a middle school teacher, I am somewhere around 2.3 . So, this blog will be a learning process-both with it's content and it's look and feel. Take a look around, hopefully as time goes by it will get better looking. I also have no idea how often I'll post-we'll just see how it goes! And I'll try not to post ... View the Post

Who Is This Rookie?

I don't trust people who don't like sweets. Monica Gellar is my spirit animal. I work. I write. I mom. I pray. I wife. I eat. I go. First kid was born at 24 weeks and spent 151 days in the NICU-well that didn't go as planned. He fought and we cheered. I started writing during that time. Second kid was born on a Thursday night-her birthmom's hand in mine both of us crying happy tears. You'll find posts here about cheesecake, adoption, kindergarten shenanigans, hard stuff, Dolly Parton and whatever else I want. And you'll like it young lady. Thanks for reading. I always love adding to the team. Especially if you bring team snacks.
