So remember when I started this blog and I said that sometimes my posts would have little or nothing to do with being a preemie mom. That I reserve the right to compose an entire post on brownies? Well. Here you go. No brownies but something that's been on my mind and I wanted to share. And guys-this one is probably more girl-focused, sorry. But don't stop reading, you might recognize your wife or your mom or your daughter in here somewhere. And if you do-make her get out from behind the ... View the Post
Putting the Mile in Milestones
It was around 4:00 in the afternoon. I am most certain I had just asked Darrin to fetch me some Oreos or Famous Amos cookies or something sweet from the cafeteria. My theory was the more calories I could consume, the bigger this baby boy would be if he did, indeed, arrive early. And I was taking that theory seriously. We were probably watching Sports Center-what else do you watch at 4:00 in the afternoon from the limited hospital channels? Bedrest was starting to get to me. But I was doing ... View the Post
Here We Go A Caroling
Christmas Eve. Me. Two Boys. A few Pinterest recipes, White Christmas and technology. No family. No cousins. Or Neighbors. No Grandparents. Or friends. Just a small, perfect, party of 3. It was not what I pictured. Way back when. Way back when we first started trying for a family. Blissfully naive to the notion of 'unexplained' infertility. To loss. To a place called the NICU. Nope. Not what I imagined at all. Our house that first Christmas with a new baby would be crowded. We would show off our ... View the Post
Sprinkles and Short Driveways
We've got big news. Two big pieces of news actually. They are small and white. And sharp. They have taken up residence in Tucker's mouth. Right in the middle of his bottom gums. When he laughs you can see them. And I can't believe it. We have a baby. And he's doing all the normal things. He's rolling. And laughing. And reaching. And grasping. And now chewing. He's got two adorable, slobbery, pre-cursor-to-eating-cake...teeth. I don't know why the birth of these teeth has got me so emotional. I ... View the Post
Isolation Blues
We've got the blues. We're missing you. We're not even halfway through isolation and we've got the isolation blues. We're so happy and excited about Christmas with Tucker. We love this holiday even more with him here. I cry pretty much every night as I rock him to sleep listening to "O Holy Night". We know what a blessing we have been given and the holidays seem to underscore it even more for us. We're also, though, very aware of all the family and friends that we're missing this holiday ... It’s beginning to look a lot like… Chaos.
This is a long one-so go make some hot chocolate, come back and sip while you read. First up, a Tucker report. We are proud parents of a graduate. Tucker officially graduated from the Pediatric Gastroenterology doctor this week. He doesn't have to go back and he's off Prevacid! This is great news. One less monthly doctor visit and another medication off the list! He also finally got rid of whatever was causing the runny diapers after 8 days. Thank you Lord. Next week he'll get his 2nd RSV shot ... View the Post
