I am privileged to be a contributor for a group called Preemie Babies 101. The site is meant to connect and support anyone who has had a preemie, at any gestation. I write for them about once every 2 months along with some other, very talented writers. My most recent article was posted yesterday and with our full day, I didn’t have time to take a look. When I got home last night around midnight I had a note from the founder of Preemie Babies 101 telling me the article had taken off, that it had been viewed by 9,000 unique visitors since noon. (As of 9/15 that number jumped to 60,000). Say what? Holy moly.
The Team Hucks blog (the very one you are reading now!) which is linked to my bio on that page has had 3,000 hits since yesterday. So as I put my head on the pillow last night, I knew. I had arrived. I would wait for the call from Good Morning America. What shoes would I wear? Would I have time to lose 5 lbs? Lara Spencer would probably ask me to co-host her side gig on Flea Market Flip. How could I work that into my conversation with her?
And then I woke up this morning. That’s when I realized. The popularity of this article had nothing whatsoever to do with me. Or Tucker. Or this little blog I run. Zero. It has EVERYTHING to do with the people about which I wrote the article. People didn’t read the article because it was me. They didn’t read it because it was a Team Hucks production. It is popular for one reason only. Because people love NICU nurses. So many people can relate to that special place in their hearts they hold for a NICU nurse. They are unsung heroes. They save babies y’all. No, for real.
So on this weekend of National Neonatal Nurses Day, read my most popular post ever. That has nothing to do with Tucker. But everything to do with the people who saved him.

This was a great post….you captured everything I would want to say but am not skilled enough to write. I am forever grateful to Ethan’s NICU nurses. They are amazing people and we think of them often. Thank you and thank you NICU nurses !
